So, I thought it might be helpful for me to post a few tips for PiraMod users about how to keep yourself safe.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">1. Only download PiraMod from the PiraMod homepage.</span><br />The link found at <a href="http://piramod.com">http://piramod.com</a> is the ONLY place you should ever download PiraMod from.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">2. Use an MD5-sum utility to verify your PiraMod download.</span><br />Here you can find <a href="http://forums.piramod.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=172">MD5 sums for each PiraMod release</a>.<br />If the MD5-sum of your copy of the installer does not match the one here, then your copy has been tampered with!<br />If you want to know more about MD5 checksums, or you need to find a program to calculate one, have a look at this Wikipedia page <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Md5sum">about MD5 sums</a>. Towards the bottom you will find "External Links" with links to a variety of different software.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">3. Scan your computer regularly.</span><br />Be sure to regularly scan your computer with the up-to-date antivirus software of your choice (or preferably several).
